Bringing simplicity Victory
Jack Trout, marketing experts worldwide, believe in the power of simplicity (the power of simplicity). According to Trout, the person or company that applies the principles of simplicity it will succeed. In his observations, in principle, human beings want simplicity (simplicity), and avoid the hassle (complexity). However, in reality, there are still many people and companies who still practice the complexity. Then how to apply the simplicity of victory? Consider the following.
Everyone wants simplicity. The reason? It's simple: Simplicity is easily understood and performed, on the contrary, the complexity requires time, effort, and the mind to comprehend. Then, what kind of simplicity that brings victory?
Simplicity in the Product. The more complicated the product, it is becoming more sophisticated image, and increasingly selling products in the market. This is assuming a lot of companies. But they are not. Complicated products that consumers in trouble to use it, so consumers will not buy another product for the next time.
For example, Santi who buys a cell phone product from a particular brand. This product is too sophisticated for Santi and not user-friendly (easier to use). Santi then resell these products and buy other products more user-friendly. This also applies to the product variations.
Many companies assume that the more varied products sold, the more likely companies to increase sales. Then they also enrich the variety of products offered to consumers in hopes that netted more and more customers. Apparently, with the increasing number of products, consumers are increasingly confused.
This is realized by Proctor and Gamble, the company that produces consumer goods. To practice the principles of simplicity, Proctor and Gamble cut its diverse product offerings to consumers significantly. And they even managed to increase sales volumes in total, because they help consumers to narrow the choices to be some variation of it, instead of tens or hundreds of variations of shampoo or soap.
Simplicity in Production. Moving in the same industry, would also involve the production of materials and production processes are identical. This is experienced by Papa John's Pizza. In the field of food sales, Papa John's Pizza was chosen by the magazine Restaurant and Institution as a network of the best pizza in the United States. What's the secret? Simplification is not just in the variety of products, but also in the production process and materials used. By focusing on the kind of classic pizzas, the materials used is not too complicated, making them easier to supervise the selection of quality materials. Because of this variation is also much simpler product, pizza-making may be more concentrated in some ways only, so the workmanship could be faster. This is of course benefit the company and also consumers who enjoy them.
Simplicity in sales. With increasingly fierce competition in the mobile phone industry, especially telecommunications provider in Indonesia, then the players in this industry, more and more a race to simplify the process of voucher sales. Which was very complicated, it becomes increasingly simple. At first the prospect of a telecommunications provider must come in person to the sales outlet, deliver a copy of identity card, bank account last three months, and the electric bill last three months. Payments were made through the transfer of credits at the Bank. Now, buyers no longer need to spend time and submit a photocopy of identity and other identification papers. They simply buy a prepaid SIM Card. After the pulse thinning, they did not need to go to the bank, but stayed to visit the nearest ATM. Even the few providers to facilitate the charging pulse through mobile phones, and also makes it easy for someone to share the credit with the other.
Simplicity in service. Usually to travel by plane, prospective passengers should go to the airport or travel agent for booking and purchasing tickets. They must check in with the tickets they buy. For that, they should come one hour earlier for domestic flights and two hours prior to flight overseas. They also have to wait long enough when the food is raised to the plane.
All these problems turned out to be understood correctly by Southwest Airlines, one of the best-selling aviation company in the United States. The company was later simplified ticket sales (via the internet, and prospective passengers can print their tickets directly through the printer in place of their own). So, they do not need to check-in counters at the airport, and need not come too early (they still can do other activities before leaving for the airport). They also do not have to wait too long for a dish that should be raised to the plane (because it is a meal not provided). Airport used by the airline is also the airport that is not too busy (not the main airport in the province concerned in the USA). And all the journey, not complicated by transit, but is a direct trip to the destination (the destination). Because of this simplicity, Southwest Airlines has been chosen by the consumer, and much imitated by other players in the same industry, both within and outside the country.
CAPITAL BASIS FOR APPLYING THE SIMPLICITY
To apply the simplicity of it not as simple as one might imagine. Imiplementasi simplicity requires the following basic capital.
Work loving. People who love the job, will be tried in such a way that the job is easier and more enjoyable to perform. If the work already being felt great, then things become easier to solve. Without a high sense of love for the job, it will be difficult for someone to stop looking for a great way to simplify the work, which will give the possibility to work and earn what is needed.
Love to work will also encourage someone to make other people love that kind of work and particularly enjoy his handiwork. Sam Walton, a businessman in the fields of retail, so loved his job, so he was willing to travel from one branch to another to have a dialogue with consumers and to identify consumer wants the truth.
Understanding People. By understanding another person or another company (either as a distributor, as well as business people), we can more easily determine the best method of service (which is not complicated) for the customer. This understanding includes understanding the attitudes of people (especially positive because it is more fun to hear), and their behavior. This understanding encourages us to turn the brain and understand the situation we are experiencing.
Controlling up to the roots. Simplicity comes from the ability to deeply into the roots. Only with knowledge like this, we can get the gist of "products, production processes, sales" and make it simpler and more easily understood by the target audience. A comprehensive mastery of the field that's our responsibility to make us lebib confident, more capable, so it's easier to convince people, especially prospective buyers, to buy our products.
Have the mentality Sharing Success. Whatever we do in order to help others also can feel the success (eg: by phone, training, and regular meetings that could be trouble brewing event or condition that is more complicated, would have led to success.) With the mentality of sharing this success, we will automatically attempt to achieve the success that we are more easily understood. It has also been practiced by Brainy Wise, the woman who now occupy the top seat in the marketing field where he worked. With this mentality, we are encouraged to creatively was thinking that we and our cooperation partners can enjoy the success together. If success has been achieved, the satisfaction of successfully sharpened, then the chances are even impatient consumers to pay a visit to the company.
Have you and your company apply the simplicity? In the midst of a competitive era, a world that continues to bubble, we are required to live simply. The trick: make products, production, and procedures / processes that you live to be simple, not only in product variations. Furthermore, do not forget to nurture the basic simplicity of the necessary capital. Good luck.
